Early childhood educators have the privilege of working with children from many diverse populations. These environments, therefore have opportunities to invite children and foster their sense of belonging by celebrating who they are and their capabilities. In order, to be able to provide authentic environments where children feel welcomed, it is important that Early Childhood Educators reflect on a journey of themselves and understand their own sense of belonging.


Learning Outcomes: Educators will increase their understanding about:

·  Ethnoculture and embracing multiple ways of knowing, doing and being

·  Social location and reflect on their own sense of belonging.

·  Implicit and Explicit bias and how this can shape ‘isms”

·  Theories that suggests that a sense of belonging can support self-actualization and capability.

·  The Early Learning Framework and reflecting on diversity, inclusion and belonging in practice.
